Leaving Switzerland for a late afternoon at the Christmas market in France…
Love the countryside here…
(I also love construction!)
Did they intentionally paint their houses in ROYGBV order?!
After saying goodbye to Chris and Jacqueline, driving back into Germany…
(from the blackness of France, according to our GPS)
Found a really cute brewery-guesthouse in the Black Forest!
Brauerei Rogg’s winter brew…
(served with cinnamon on top!)
Also their blue flaming rum shot… :P
And bright pink floral suite. :)
A good board games day, but we did make it outside for a little walk with the dog (Monsieur Leon) in the Swiss/French countryside…
Looking back at Rodorsdorf…
Turn around, and there’s France!
Wet but happy family :)
Merry Christmas to everyone, from Switzerland!
Making huevos rancheros… a Christmas morning “tradition” with the Roedel family!
Lazing around… (also a tradition…)
Our awesome tree!
Gifts like these make me feel like a kid again. :)
Henning with his more adult “tour of Belgium” gift… :)
Henning eating a hen!
Hanging out in little Rodorsdorf (near Basel) for the day.
From dinner last night…
New experience tonight… raclette!
Driving southwest from Munich to Rodorsdorf (Switzerland) – made a stop in Hohenschwangau to see the Neuschwanstein Castle.
Hohenschwangau Castle (Schloss Hohenschwangau)
The hiking path of ice… up to Neuschwanstein…
Made it to the viewing bridge!
..to the castle!…
Made it to Chris and Jacqueline’s in Rodorsdorf for pasta with Christiane’s homemade pasta sauce and meatballs!
Back to the German-speaking world
(…and not understanding what’s going on around me…)
At least Santa is pretty universal!
Hen, Christiane and I took an afternoon walk to the St. Chrischona TV tower
on the eastern side of Basel (German border).
While the tower itself is not exactly aesthetic,
the walk down had some nice views.
Sun and the moon
from our B&B in Varzo.
Drive back to Basel….
Previous two photos taken by Chris.
Is all this even real??
