A very thoughtful gift from Deb, one of my gluten-free companions at work. :)
It’s a beautiful day! Lots of friends and family showed up for Jamie’s bridal shower at her Aunt Paula’s!
Birthday surprise for Derek B! I love seeing people’s faces when they aren’t expecting something. :)
I’m thankful for – Day #10 – Work + Alcohol
This year’s company holiday party not only includes socializing with coworkers… but also a white elephant gift exchange (!!) and free alcohol (not pictured)!! Very much an upgrade from last year.
To celebrate a year of WRUP team bonding, we also opened a bottle of Henning’s recently brewed stout. I think the guys appreciated the gesture.
Traffic cone in a box…
I’m thankful for – Day #6 – My high school friends
Look at the beautiful cake Mel brought to our annual reunion/Secret Santa gift exchange. Mel is definitely the mama bear of our group of 6. :)
Henning and I got a care package from his mom Christiane.
I like to say it came in a “Henning-sized shoebox.”
Look at all the stuff we got!! Cookies!!
And I haven’t had an advent calendar in YEARS!!
What a morning of mud, fire, and cow poo!
Finally cleaned up after the race…
…ate some porcupine custard buns…
And once I got home…. FEET PAMPERING SUPPLIES!!
A very thoughtful birthday present from Jamie and Wes. :)
Talk about reasons to celebrate!
I really, honestly, am so blessed. It’s not even my birthday yet, and little surprises show up. Thank you Shane!
A gift from Hannah. BFF, I am so proud of you for the last two months.
Jamie and Wes sent get well cookies (and a card) for Henning… so sweet!!
Three different kinds of cookies!
Here’s a rug Henning brought back for us from Morocco. There’s a pretty cool story behind it, and Henning’s mom has a “sister rug” in Berlin. (They were handmade, by sisters…) The symbols have different meanings… winds, clans, harmony…
We’re trying to decide whether to keep it as a rug on the ground or hang it as a tapestry on our wall…
Our friends/neighbors George and Sachi from upstairs gave us a restored wooden chair that they couldn’t take with them on their move to the East Coast. It’s a true throne! Henning-sized. :)
In addition to our CSA box, Henning also bought me flowers this week! So sweet!
You can also see the table cover that Henning’s mom made us for the garden station on the balcony!
We’re in Michigan—whutt!?!?
Pillows my mom and I made for Wes and Jamie!
(Michigan is not 100% accurate… we tried!)
I stayed at Wes and Jamie’s place last night – love the accent walls!
Driving to Mackinaw City!
View of Lake Huron from our room!
Walking around town…
Mackinac Bridge… 3rd longest suspension bridge in the country!
(Verrazano-Narrows and the Golden Gate have spans just a little longer.)
Memorial Day Fireworks at night, as seen from our hotel room balconies!
Happy Spring, Happy Birthday and Happy Housewarming!
…not afraid to say it again…
The students in Henning’s department had a white elephant gift exchange. This is Benton, showing everyone how much he loves his My Magic Tea Cup Set.
Life lesson: even the tiniest bit of appreciation can go a long way.
My fellow muay thai students (and coach) had a holiday potluck, with a Secret Santa gift exchange. And sooo much food!
Little pieces from my day…
Saw this flattened picnic bench in the courtyard outside of Henning’s apartment! What happened???
After Muay Thai training, worked on this puzzle with Hen. The puzzle and the puzzle mat (so we can roll it up and store it!) were part of his birthday present from me and my parents. :)
Dinner at one of my favorite mom-and-pop restaurants, El Calderon. I was so glad Hen got to experience the great food and warm friendly service. It’s nothing flashy, but I always leave content.
Tamarindo, guanabana, pupusas, fried yucca with chicharrones, plantains, rice and beans. And pretty much the best boyfriend ever.
Some office fun. Elaine and Shandi’s gift to Michael for April Fool’s Day tomorrow. The best part was actually the confetti poppers hooked up to his desk to go off when he pulls out the keyboard tray.
Henning and I went to Michaels to frame the gift I gave him for Valentines Day. (Not cheap!) Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by how great the Senior Framer Dave was at helping us achieve what we wanted, and we were quite fortunate that Michaels was having a big sale on frames and custom framing. :)
Finally got the piece back on Friday, and we love the result!
Received a cute package at work today, and I was especially surprised and touched to receive not just roses (in a vase)… but rather living rose buds in a pot!! :) My baby gets me.
Here’s the gift I made him, using photos from the past year. Hen and I played with the arrangement of letters together, and this is what we decided on (to be framed).
