Today’s salad bar offering from the Forbes Family Cafe in the Huang Building.
Homma’s Brown Rice Sushi.
Possibly my favorite salad anywhere – veggies, avocado, brown rice, sashimi, light sesame dressing.
Henning and I tried this Mediterranean place called Extraordinary Soups and More, and I have to say that the chicken mango soup we tried was SO GOOD!!!!
I wish more places were dedicated to making 8-12 homemade soups per day!! (and labeled vegetarian/gluten free!)
We’ve since learned (April 2015) that the couple who owned Extraordinary Soups and More have decided to sell/close. My heart just fell a little. :(
If Thai Cafe has a rival on campus for both speed and value-per-dollar, Forbes Family Cafe in the Huang building of the Engineering Quad is it. It also has the widest range of hours of almost any R&DE eatery on campus (and Coupa).
I really can’t rave enough about how this salad cost $4! As-much-as-you-can-stuff-into-the-bowl for $4! $7.25 for the larger bowls.
It’s a very vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free-friendly establishment. Salad bar almost always has a grain-centered salad, a vegetable protein-centered salad, and another vegetable-filled salad.
There are usually only one or two offerings per day with meat. To those in California who see this as a problem, I would invite you to visit waterfootprint.org, and evaluate your water footprint in consideration of our region’s worsening drought.
Anyway the salad was amazing!
Next time, no almonds, because they have a surprisingly high water footprint as well… le sigh.
Leaving beautiful Großgmain (Austria)!
Overlooking Melk and its Benadictine Abbey (Stift Melk), one of the world’s most famous monasteries…
Continuing to drive along the Danube…
FINALLY found a place that was open for food! (in Krems)
Randon really old stuff!
On to Vienna!
