First visit to Stanford Sierra Camp on Fallen Leaf Lake!
Giant Cedars Boardwalk…!
Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk…!
Covered cooking/picnic areas…
Stuck in construction traffic…
Entering the town of Revelstoke…
Revelstoke Railway Museum…
The Last Spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven not far from Revelstoke in Craigellachie, British Columbia in 1885, completing the tracks of Canada’s first transcontinental railroad.
Rented bikes and went on an off-road adventure…
Drove Meadows to the Sky Parkway (16 miles) up to the top off Mount Revelstoke. We’ve heard that the view is beautiful, but unfortunately, the smoke from the nearby fires blocked the views today. Would also have been nice if someone had told us that Balsam Lake at the top would be dry by August!
Exploring the Nels Nelson Hill (ski jump) area…
Have to rave about this place in Revelstoke that we went to for lunch AND dinner. Indian-German fusion!! Must try if you’re in the area.
Another very early morning, to drive up to Columbia Icefield, on the northern border of Banff National Park and southern border of Jasper National Park.
Driving in a giant bus up to the icefield!
(look how steep that road is!)
So touristy… standing on Athabasca Glacier!
Hazy day from the fires in the area… =/
Back at camp…
